Tadaima, Okaeri is a fresh addition to the boy’s love (BL) anime genre. Currently, the series releases new episodes every Monday via Crunchyroll.
Its unique blend of genres, including yaoi, slice of life, and Omegaverse, makes finding a series just like it to enjoy incredibly difficult. In fact, this series serves as an introduction to the Omegaverse for many. While there are many mangas that explore the Omegaverse, this is the first time this genre has snagged an anime adaption. While the genre is somewhat confusing, it has been well-received by those who enjoy the boy’s love genre.
Slice Of Life BL Anime For Tadaima, Okaeri Fans
The unfortunate truth is you just won’t find a series that is exactly like Tadaima, Okaeri because Omegaverse is very new to the anime world. There are, however, several wholesome boy’s love slice-of-life options capable of scratching that itch in your brain.
Join us as we explore a curated selection of boy’s love/yaoi anime titles that promise to enchant fans of Tadaima, Okaeri.

Super Lovers
Super Lovers is probably one of the most controversial yaoi/boy’s love anime shows you’ll ever watch. It, however, falls near the top of the list for BL shows that are also a slice-of-life series heavily focused on family. This is a series you have to watch with an incredibly open mind as a questionable relationship does develop between Haru and Ren. Everything from the age gap to the fact that they are brothers (not related by blood) makes this a series a lot of people aren’t going to enjoy.
While spending summer with his mother, Haru meets Ren, a boy newly adopted by his mother. Getting along with Ren isn’t easy as Haru’s goal is to ‘civilize’ him by the time summer ends. Their relationship slowly improves as Haru spends more time with Ren and in return Ren steadily gives his love up to him.
In general, Super Lovers isn’t really a series I would recommend to people because of how controversial it is. It, however, definitely belongs on this list if you are looking for a slice-of-life family-focused yaoi series. Just approach it with an open mind if you decide to give it a try.
You can find this series on Crunchyroll.
Sasaki and Miyano
Sasaki and Miyano is one of the newest additions to the BL genre as it just came out last year. The series tells the story of an ongoing manga (so fans are hopeful this means more seasons will come). Sasaki and Miyano does a real fan service to yaoi fans as it breaks the fourth wall being a BL series about high school guys that enjoy BL manga and anime.

Sasaki and Miyano clip from YouTube
Miyano is the name of a shy young man who enjoys reading BL manga but does what he can to keep it a secret from almost everyone. He ends up meeting Sasaki who learns his secret and they bond over a shared interest in BL manga. Things start to shift as the show progresses and Sasaki realizes he is borrowing the manga because he likes Miyano as more than a friend.
The romance in the series is a very slow burn but, I don’t think you could consider yourself a fan of the boy’s love genre if you don’t give this series a spin.
Sasaki and Miyano is available for streaming via Crunchyroll.
The Stranger by the Shore
The Stranger By The Shore is technically an anime movie and not a series. It, however, is a great choice for someone looking for something both slice of life and BL. The series follows the stories of Shun Hashimoto and Okinawa.
Shun is a writer. He is disowned by his parents after breaking off his marriage engagement and telling his parents he is gay. Okinawa, on the other hand, was orphaned at the age of 17 when his mother died. One day these two cross paths and a bond forms. Unfortunately, they are separated for a few years. But, three years pass and they find their way back to each other.
The Stranger By The Shore is a wholesome series and an absolute must-watch on your quest to find a series like Tadaima, Okaeri.
You can stream this movie via Crunchyroll.
Antidote (Jie Yao)
One of the biggest things you notice with slice-of-life BL anime series is that most take place in high school. Antidote is a refreshing addition to this list because it doesn’t. The series follows Cheng Ke who is from a wealthy family. He, however, decides to split and run away. Things are a bit tragic and difficult for him when he crosses paths with a gang boss named Jiang Yuduo. After settling into his new home, he is surprised to learn that same gang boss is also his landlord. A relationship blooms between these two, but they are forced to deal with issues from their past. Can they protect each other?
Unfortunately, despite only being a few years old, this series is not easy to locate and stream.
World’s Greatest First Love (Sekaiichi Hatsukoi)
Sekaiichi Hatsukoi is another ideal choice for someone looking to veer from the typical high school slice of life anime titles. This series focuses on characters later in life, as they settle into new adulthood.
The story follows Ritsu Onodera, a literary editor for his father’s publishing company. Not wanting any favors, he leaves his father’s business and becomes an editor for the manga department at Marukawa Publishing. As the series progresses, Ritsu realizes his boss (Masamune Takano) was also his first love back in school. The old spark between the two quickly returns even though Ritsu fights against fate pushing him into a relationship with his boss.
You can stream Sekaiichi Hatsukoi on Crunchyroll.
Gravitation
Gravitation is arguably a bit cheesy. The characters are even a bit annoying. This series, however, is a great introduction to the yaoi/BL franchise. This also happens to be one of the oldest titles in this genre as it came out back in 1999.
The series follows a singer named Shuichi and his band. One day Shuichi’s path crosses with a famous romance novelist named Eiri Yuki. Yuki reads Shuichi’s songs and tells him he lacks talent. From that moment on, Shuichi can’t get Yuki out of his head. While romance does bloom between these two it is a massive struggle as Yuki actively fights with his desire to be with a man.
If you are looking for a classic old-school BL series. This is one you should try.
You can stream this series via Crunchyroll.
Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!
Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! is a series a lot of people avoid because the name of the series is just weird. It, however, ranks pretty high as far as being an anime like Tadaima, Okaeri. This series follows older working-age characters. Cherry Magic! follows the unique idea that if you turn thirty and are still a virgin you develop magic powers. More specifically, you get the ability to read other people’s minds. The idea is that this power will make it easier for the person to find someone to be with.
The virginal magic power is a fun and hilarious quirk to the plotline, and it certainly adds an awkward comedy element to the series. After turning thirty, Kiyoshi Adachi discovers he can read minds. He makes the mistake of reading his co-worker, Yuichi Kurosawa’s mind and learns he has a crush on him. Yuichi Kurosawa often lets his mind run wild with fairly dirty thoughts of Kiyoshi Adachi (not realizing he can hear all of them). Is it possible to find love when you can hear people’s deepest, and sometimes naughty, thoughts? This series takes an interesting look at that idea.
You can stream every episode of this series on Crunchyroll.
Unfortunately, there aren’t any titles exactly like Tadaima, Okaeri. This is largely because Omegaverse is a new concept in terms of being adapted for anime. If you don’t have your heart set on something else that is Omegaverse or even something else that involves children, there are a lot of great options on this list you should be able to enjoy.
