Don’t panic BL anime fans, but the second Given movie titled Given The Movie: To The Sea dropped some pretty big news today. This news included a theatrical release date, a trailer, and a poster/visual. When does this exciting new movie come out? Keep reading for the details.

Given The Movie: To The Sea Release Date

The popular and emotional BL anime series Given is ending with its final movie, Given the Movie: To the Sea. This film is a direct sequel to Given Movie: Hiiragi Mix, which premiered earlier this year on January 27, 2024.

Produced by Studio Lerche, the new movie will faithfully adapt the manga’s storyline to its heartfelt conclusion. So, fans are helpful this film will give them the closure they desperately want for these characters. Fortunately, fans won’t have to wait too long as the film is set to be released in Japanese theaters on September 20, 2024.

Closure For Mafuyu’s Grief

The death of Yuki has been haunting Mafuyu since the very beginning of this series. What fans want more than anything is for this second and final film to give him the closure he needs to come to peace with Yuki’s death and move on with his life. After all, Yuki wouldn’t want Mafuyu to be unhappy forever. Yuki did love him.

Given the Movie: To the Sea promises to portray the power that pure love can have toward helping Mafuyu heal. Furthermore, fans will watch as Uenoyama takes himself to new heights both with his emotions and with his musical talents.

Fans can rest easy knowing that Ugetsu Murata will return for the second film. He will be a confidant in helping Mafuyu heal from his grief.

Given is an extremely popular choice among BL fans because it shattered a lot of toxic stereotypes that often get wrapped up in anime and manga within this genre. While fans agree it is bittersweet that this story is coming to an end, they are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Mafuyu and Uenoyama.
