With just 12 episodes, Season 1 of A Sign Of Affection is pretty easy to binge through in a short amount of time. Will fans get to enjoy more episodes? Has this series been renewed or canceled? Plus, is this one you should stream or skip? Keep reading for the details.
A Happy Accident
A Sign Of Affection is a slice-of-life romance anime I had never heard of before. It came out in January of this year. It was through a random mention in a TikTok video that I first heard of the series and decided to see what it was. I stumbled into this series completely blind with absolutely no idea what the show was actually about. Furthermore, I will be the first to tell you the synopsis of this series is in no way helpful. Here’s the official description of this series:
Yuki Itose is a student dealing with the pressures of college; she is struggling on the train when Itsuomi Nagi helps her out.
Now, what this very brief overview fails to mention is that the main character, Yuki Itose, is completely deaf. Without realizing she’s deaf, Itsuomi Nagi helps her communicate with someone on the train. Fascinated with exploring different worlds, cultures, and languages, Itsuomi instantly becomes smitten with Yuki. He finds himself wanting to learn so much more about what it is like in Yuki’s world without any sound. Yuki, on the other hand, had no idea she could even feel love for someone because of her struggles to communicate with people.
Stream Or Skip?
A Sign Of Affection is a beautiful series. The character development is incredible. Furthermore, the series does an impressive drop on showing the struggles the main character has communicating with other people because she’s deaf. For example, the series has a heavy focus on how difficult it is for Yuki to get a job because she’s deaf. As the mother of a child who is nonverbal and struggles with communicating, it was really exciting for me to get to enjoy this particular series.
A Sign Of Affection Season 2: Renewed Or Canceled?
The real downside to this series is being just 12 episodes long. Personally, I binged through the entire series in a day and a half. It definitely left me wanting to watch Yuki’s relationship and friendships develop further. Likewise, I wanted to see what happened to some of the secondary couples in the series as well. Furthermore, Yuki’s mother never really gets to meet Itsuomi. And, I would have liked to see that play out as well.

At this time, the series has not been renewed for a second season. It, however, has not been canceled either. Furthermore, 100s of those who have watched the series have dropped comments on Crunchyroll hoping and praying for a Season 2.
According to chatter on My Anime List, the author of the manga did tease fans with talk of a second season about a month ago on social media. So, the door is definitely open. Season 1 did wrap up nicely without leaving any massive cliffhangers. This definitely isn’t one of those shows you should skip because there is only one season. Fans, however, remain hopeful a Season 2 is happening.
Have you had a chance to stream A Sign Of Affection yet? Do you think it should be renewed for Season 2? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. And, keep coming back for more anime news and updates.
