Massive Good News for Kamisama Kiss Fans — It’s Finally Happening!
If you’ve ever typed “Why is Kamisama Kiss not on Crunchyroll?” into your search bar while aggressively shaking your phone — same, bestie. It’s been a long and frustrating ride. But guess what?
Kamisama Kiss is FINALLY on Crunchyroll.
I’m talking both seasons, both sub AND dub. No sketchy third-party streams. No bouncing between eight different platforms. It’s all right there. On Crunchyroll. Right now. Deep breath.
Why Was Kamisama Kiss Not on Crunchyroll Until Now?
The short answer? Licensing drama. The long answer? A mix of complicated rights ownership and platform migration issues that made Kamisama Kiss one of those “why is this so hard to watch legally?” anime. For years, it just kind of… disappeared. You might catch part of season 1 on Hulu, maybe see a dub on Funimation, and then—poof—it would vanish again.
This anime has been notoriously difficult to find in full, especially if you wanted to watch it legally with the dub. But that’s finally changed, thanks to Crunchyroll securing full streaming rights.
Where to Watch Kamisama Kiss on Crunchyroll
As of April 30, 2025, you can stream all of Kamisama Kiss on Crunchyroll. That includes:
- Season 1 — sub and dub
- Season 2 — sub and dub
If you’re new to Crunchyroll, there’s even a 7-day free trial you can use to binge it all (you’re welcome).
Remind Me, What’s Kamisama Kiss About Again?
It’s one of the OG romantic fantasy anime. Nanami Momozono, a down-on-her-luck high school girl, accidentally becomes a land god and is suddenly living in a shrine with a grumpy (and gorgeous) fox familiar named Tomoe. Hijinks. Chemistry. Supernatural drama. It’s got that cozy 2010s anime magic we love.
If you like romantic anime with humor, heart, and a little mythology sprinkled in, Kamisama Kiss deserves a spot on your watchlist.
What About the OVAs?
As thrilled as I am to finally see Kamisama Kiss on Crunchyroll, there is one thing still missing: the OVAs.
And if you’ve watched the series before, you know — the OVAs are kind of a big deal. They give you closure. Like, actual closure. One of them even wraps up the story between Tomoe and Nanami in a way the main series just… doesn’t.
Unfortunately, the OVAs aren’t included on Crunchyroll right now. Trust me, I looked.
Here’s what I’ve found as of now:
- Your best bet is buying them on eBay — usually bundled with Japanese DVD or Blu-ray releases
- You might get lucky and find them on YouTube, but they come and go fast
- No official re-release or streaming option is available as of now
If you’re watching Kamisama Kiss for the first time, I highly recommend tracking them down. Otherwise, you’re honestly missing the real end of the series.
Final Thoughts
I don’t know who at Crunchyroll we need to thank, but THANK YOU. Having Kamisama Kiss fully available in one place, with both audio options, feels like winning the anime lottery.
So go ahead. Stream it. Rewatch it. Cry over Tomoe again. We’re in our 2012 shoujo feels and thriving.
